Laser Tag is an arena-shooter Blooket Plus mode where players tag AI targets or rival players with lasers to score points, with an energy bar that forces a question break roughly every 20 seconds. Player tags pay far more than AI targets, six power-up capsules change how a player fights, and team mode splits the arena into up to 8 named squads. Laser Tag sits inside the wider Blooket Plus modes lineup, and unlike most Plus modes, it has actually spent a stretch of time free before reverting.
Laser Tag places every player in the same neon arena, where WASD or arrow keys move a blook on desktop while a mouse or trackpad aims and fires the laser. On mobile, a joystick handles both movement and aim at once, pointing the laser wherever the player steers. Players tag AI-controlled targets scattered around the arena or aim directly at opponents, and every hit adds to a running score.
An energy bar drains during active play and empties after roughly 20 seconds of continuous movement and shooting. Once it runs out, or once a player gets tagged by someone else, a question appears, and answering it correctly sends the player back into the arena with a full bar. Laser Tag runs on two separate point values, and the gap between them is wide enough to shape how a round should be played. Hitting an AI-controlled target pays 10 points, while tagging another player or a rival team member pays 100 points, a full 10 times more. This split means chasing targets keeps a player’s score climbing steadily, but hunting opponents is where the real point swings happen.
Targets sit still or move predictably, so they’re the safer, easier hit. Players move and dodge, so tagging one takes better aim and faster reflexes, which is exactly why the payout sits so much higher.
Capsules scattered around the arena grant one of six temporary effects, and picking the right one at the right moment changes how a fight plays out. Rapid Fire increases how quickly a single laser can fire in a row, while Triple Shot fires three lasers in fast sequence for a burst of consecutive hits. Triple Beam fires a spread of three laser beams at once, covering a wider area than a single shot.
The UFO capsule increases movement speed, letting a player close distance or escape faster than opponents can react. Force Field grants a shield that absorbs one incoming laser hit before it breaks, buying a player one free mistake. The Mystery capsule skips the choice entirely and grants one random power-up from the full pool, which makes it a gamble worth taking only when nothing better is visible nearby.
Laser Tag supports both solo free-for-all play and team mode, and the host chooses which one to run before the game starts. Team mode splits players across 8 named teams, and friendly fire is turned off, so tagging a teammate does nothing. Team color shows up in player names, lasers, and uniforms, and a combined team score sits alongside individual rankings on the leaderboard throughout the match.
Five of the eight team names and mascots are confirmed: Charmed Cats (Lucky Cat), Fiery Fish (Red Goldfish), Yelling Yetis (Yeti), Daring Dinos, and Amazing Aliens. The Amazing Aliens icon is a direct visual reference to the unnamed purple alien from Zorblitz, both shown holding the same round green object. Team mode was added on July 31, 2025, well after the mode’s original launch, and it turned Laser Tag from a pure free-for-all shooter into a squad-based one.
Laser Tag’s access tier has changed more than once, and the current answer is that it’s Plus-only. Laser Tag launched on February 20, 2025 with a Beta tag, restricted to a small early group of players. The Beta tag was removed on June 24, 2025, making it an official mode available to all Plus users.
A little under a month later, on July 22, 2025, the Plus requirement was lifted and Laser Tag briefly became free to everyone. That window didn’t last, and the Plus requirement returned shortly after, reportedly tied to server costs, though Blooket never confirmed the exact reason. Anyone who remembers playing it free during that short stretch in July 2025 wasn’t imagining it.
Laser Tag isn’t the only mode to borrow visuals from elsewhere in Blooket. Its Amazing Aliens team icon mirrors the unnamed alien character from Zorblitz, right down to the object it’s holding, making Laser Tag one of a small number of modes that reference another mode’s design directly. The mode has also shown up outside its own arena: Laser Tag makes a cameo appearance as a background arcade machine inside the solo mode Plushie Panic.
