Fishing Frenzy’s Catch Mechanic and Rarity Tiers Explained

Fishing Frenzy turns every correct answer into a cast, and every cast lands one of 33 catches drawn from a fixed rarity ladder. It’s one of the Hosting, Solo, and Homework-capable modes on Blooket, and the entire scoring system runs on which tier a catch lands in rather than any skill applied during the catch itself. The sections below cover the exact tiers, drop rates, and rank system that decide what ends up on the hook.

How Does the Cast and Catch Mechanic Work?

A correct answer in Fishing Frenzy triggers one cast, and that cast draws a random catch from a weighted rarity pool with no skill component in the draw itself. Answering wrong doesn’t eliminate a player or cost a life; it simply returns them to another question with no cast earned for that attempt. Every catch appears on the host’s screen with the catching player’s name attached, regardless of which mode is running.

Catch weight, not catch count, decides the final standings. A single high-tier catch can outweigh a dozen low-tier ones, so cast volume and catch rarity both matter, but rarity carries far more scoring weight than raw speed alone.

What Are Fishing Frenzy’s Catch Rarity Tiers?

Fishing Frenzy uses seven in-game tier names, Trash, Easy One, Great Catch, Rare Find, Epic Grab, Catch of the Day, and Angler’s Legend, each mapping directly to Blooket’s standard Common-through-Mystical rarity scale. Trash is the only tier with no equivalent in Blooket’s sitewide rarity system, and Unique is the only sitewide rarity with no Fishing Frenzy equivalent, since the mode launched before Unique existed.

Blook Tier Chance Weight Range
Old Boot Trash 15% 1–10
Waffle Trash 5% 1–10
Two of Spades Trash 5% 1–10

UFO Angler’s Legend 1% 1,000,000–2,000,000
Santa Claus Angler’s Legend 0.1% 1,000,000–2,000,000
Swamp Monster Angler’s Legend 0.1% 1,000,000–2,000,000
Red Astronaut Angler’s Legend 0.1% 1,000,000–2,000,000

Dragon Angler’s Legend 0.1% 1,000,000–2,000,000
Tim the Alien Angler’s Legend 0.05% 1,500,000–2,500,000

Old Boot, Jellyfish, Clownfish, and Frog share the highest base drop rate on the entire table at 15% each. Tim the Alien sits at the opposite extreme with the lowest rate in the mode at 0.05%, the same drop rate as pulling a Chroma from the Space Pack.

Rarity placement doesn’t always track a blook’s rarity elsewhere on Blooket. Octopus counts as a Rare blook in the Aquatic Pack but lands in the Epic Grab tier here, and Narwhal is an Epic Pack blook that appears under the Legendary-equivalent Catch of the Day tier instead.

How Do Lure Upgrades Change What You Catch?

Lure upgrades shift a player’s catch pool toward higher rarity tiers, and reaching Rank 5 is the confirmed point where a player can catch a Swamp Monster for the first time. No verified rank beyond 5 currently exists in any sourced data, so treating Rank 5 as the current top confirmed tier is the accurate position rather than assuming a higher cap exists.

Lower lure ranks weight catches heavily toward Trash and Easy One tiers, and each upgrade shifts that weighting toward Rare Find, Epic Grab, and eventually Catch of the Day and Angler’s Legend. A player who ignores lure upgrade prompts stays capped at low-tier catches regardless of how many questions they answer correctly.

How Does Fishing Frenzy Differ Between Hosting and Solo Play?

Distractions, a mechanic that briefly interrupts every player’s screen when someone reels one up, only exist in Hosting mode and never appear in Solo or Homework play. Solo and Homework mode instead let a player set their own session timer, the same structure Factory uses for its solo sessions. Both modes still run on the identical 33-catch rarity table described above.

Fishing Frenzy and Factory are the only two Solo Blooket modes built with a timer, and both cap that timer at 30 minutes maximum. Distractions themselves aren’t unique to Fishing Frenzy either, since Racing, Factory, Santa’s Workshop, Laser Tag, Egg Hunt, Café, and Busy Bees all carry some version of the same disruption mechanic in their own Hosting modes.

Which Blook Anchors Fishing Frenzy’s Mystical Tier?

Tim the Alien is Fishing Frenzy’s Mystical-tier blook, sitting in the Angler’s Legend rarity at a 0.05% catch rate, the lowest of any catch in the mode. Fishing Frenzy is one of six Blooket modes to feature a Mystical blook at all, a small group that also includes Café, Cyber Hack, Tower Defense, Santa’s Workshop, and Monster Brawl’s Halloween map. For a full breakdown of what separates Mystical and Unique blooks from the standard rarity ladder, BlooketIQ’s guide to obtaining Mystical and Unique blooks covers the distinction directly.

When Was Fishing Frenzy Reworked?

Fishing Frenzy shipped to Hosting mode on September 22, 2021, expanded to Solo and Homework play on November 18, 2025, and received a separate mechanical rework on July 27, 2026. The Solo and Homework launch and the 2026 rework are two distinct events years apart, not one continuous update. The July 2026 rework arrived in the same batch as Gold Quest and Cyber Hack, made the mode hack-proof, and raised the token rate from 1 to 2 tokens per correct answer.
